How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside North Charleston’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 12, 2026. We added places we found in the state’s SC Food Grades inspection records and Visit North Charleston’s dining listings where the place’s own site or chain location page gave a North Charleston address. McDonald’s, Burger King, Culver’s, Shake Shack, Sonic, Cook Out and Checkers have North Charleston inspection records, but their location pages blocked us or would not load, so they are not listed yet. Blackout Burger was left out: the website on its listing now belongs to another restaurant. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it.
